November 15, 16, 17

Thursday, November 15 started out quite fun. We woke up to 4 or so inches of snow. The kid's school was cancelled. Tyler was told to work from home.
The next day we were planning to leave to New Mexico for Thanksgiving. So...we had the kids play while Tyler worked in the morning and afternoon and I packed. Later that day we loaded up and left for New Mexico.

Here we were in Kansas City - it was a nice drive.

In Topeka we stopped for dinner. Owen and I waited in the car while Tyler and kids went in to use bathrooms and pick up dinner.

Around Hays, KS we started to look for a hotel when we hit a deer on I-70 going 80 mph. We were lucky. No one was hurt. Except our van.

The police man went and found the deer. Dumb animal.
The police helped us find a tow, a hotel and helped us get there.

Friday, November 16 we went to the repair shop where we found out our van was a total loss. Owen is looking out the window at Tyler unloading the VW into our rental van.

Owen found the hotel to be fun. August however, threw up 8 times in 2 hours.

On the road again.

We arrived in New Mexico around 1am on Friday. Saturday, November 17 Tyler and I returned the rental car and bought a new van. This ended up being a rather expensive trip for us.
If your curious, I am still dealing with the paperwork from a total loss...I don't recommend hitting a deer on your vacation.
