Labor Day Weekend

We usually make it to New Mexico for President's Day weekend. However, it is cold and not a ton of fun to be outside. So we decided to head down for Labor Day while we still had some warm weather.
Tyler and I have tried this trip with a variety of departure times - morning, afternoon, evening, late evening, and always we have a kid (Maddie Mae) who will not sleep or be quiet and spends seven hours complaining. So we Tyler and I set the alarm for 2:30AM and we were on the road by 3:10AM. On both the way down on the return we were able to make it to the half point, Moab, before kids woke up. It was so nice. I mean we, Tyler and I, were tired, but it was so nice to do half the trip with sleeping kids. It was also nice to get to our destination before noon.

When we arrived in New Mexico the kids helped Grandpa mow the lawn and we enjoyed a winnie roast that night.

We spent some time helping around the house - recovering from the flooded basement. But we also played. Topher lost a tooth with Grandpa's help, Caroline vegged. Maddie played with barbies! And we helped cut the grass again.

We also went for a walk down by the river in Aztec.

It was a fun weekend and totally worth the time and early start to the trip. Thanks Pat and Larry for a fun weekend!
