Homemade Haklloween

This year Topher requested a costume that cannot be found on the racks - The Witch King from Lord of the Rings (if you are not familiar with this character you should look him up). Maddie and Caroline wanted to be Elsa, but as they are getting Elsa dresses for Christmas and I am not nice enough of a mom to just give them the dresses, so  we had them choose something else. After some back and forth we settled on a mermaid and a butterfly.
I undertook the task of sewing (yup, me) and Tyler took on building the helmet. While building Topher did not really trust us that it would all work out. It wasn't until the paint was on Topher told Tyler, "I trust you now." The helmet is cardboard (from a diaper box) paper mache, paint and wooden dowels. Pretty talented dad Topher has!

The pretty head model was from Tyler's school days.
