Fridge full of Amoxicillin and Halloween

Tyler and I were talking about our favorite seasons. Tyler loves Fall, he loves the crisp Fall air and the leaves changing. He says he likes how fragile the season is and how you know it wont last. I think that is why I really don't like it. Because I know what is next. Winter. October is Fall, but here in Utah, it was confused.
After our two days of snow we warmed up just in time for Halloween. I got lazy this year - no pumpkin patch, just a stop at Wal-Mart. I don't think the kids were upset by that at all. Maddie Mae asked for a silly face pumpkin and Topher a scary face.

Unfortunately, that cold snap and the fluctuating temperatures created the perfect climate for illness. Both baby girls are sick.
Caroline with ear infections and Madelyn with strep throat.
So, despite having costumes for Caroline (a lady bug) and Maddie (the color pink) the girls opted to stay home, take their medicine and go to bed.
I do have to be greatful that the kid who has a countdown for Halloween (and Thanksgiving because Lori and Zach are coming over and until Lisa comes and until Mimi comes and until Santa comes) was able to go.
He had a hard time deciding what he wanted to be. All month it was a skeleton.
But on Tuesday we went to a play group Halloween party and he was Darth Vader.
Last night he was an army man.
Topher has to show off his vast arsenal.
Between each house (which is not much space here in Daybreak) Tyler and Topher played army. He would talk in his headset giving orders and finding where the bad guys were. At the end of one of these conversations he said, "Okay, I love you. Goodbye." Guess he is use to only talking to those he loves.
He had fun :)

After getting kids to bed. Tyler spending sometime working. We finally start getting ready for bed. Of course Caroline thought that would be a perfect time to get up.
While she is cute, very little in this world is something I want to stay up for. So we put her pack-and-play in the pantry and went to bed.

Eww and Yucky According to Maddie Mae

I was just going through my pictures to see what to post about and realized that I have not been very diligent in taking pictures lately. Thus, I do not have pictures to document all the happenings lately.
But let me see if I can recall what we have been doing.

Last week we went out for ice cream (big deal here because we don't do it often). Topher chose a flavor that was blue, green and purple. Maddie Mae chose pink bubble gum. Caroline ate mom's chocolate!

Topher completed his science fair project. He had fun. We burned things!

Tyler's sister Katie had her endowments taken out last weekend. Tyler and I were able to go because Jessi and Drew were brave enough to take in our three kids. They said they were good, but after a 20 minute drive with the girls screaming in the car I am not sure when or if they will have kids.

Mom bought airline tickets for Christmas! Yay! I now have something to countdown to!

I made a Chess pie and everyone loved it but Topher.

Found a great use for left over chili - Navajo Tacos.

Caroline, I think, is teething. If she isn't teething she has a black soul and desires to drive her parents to insanity by staying up all night.

Now - I don't think I can remember much else that is not document with pictures so on to what I can show you.

Topher is off track now so we are in search of projects that will keep us busy!
Yesterday was paper bag puppets. Today is homemade "Gak." (Remember that Drew?) Topher chose to make purple and Maddie Mae chose pink! Maddie Mae did find it to be a little "eww" and "yucky!"

Caroline has found two hobbies - unloading the dishwasher and climbing the stairs.

And a few weeks ago Tyler and I completed our dresser. We really enjoyed our time together at night working on this. Wish we had more projects to do right now. I really like how the dresser turned out. Don't love the paint color of the room it is in but hazard of living in a rental!

I hope to do better in taking pictures over the next few weeks with Topher out of school. I think we have planned a pumpkin patch, library story time, trunk-or-treat, trick-or-treat, candy making, and a movie!

"The Magic of a Moment" project

 Topher's Project:
The theme was "The Magic of a Moment" As this was rather abstract for a five year old, I suggested that he look through family pictures and find a picture that was special to him. He could not choose between two moments. Fishing/driving the boat with papa or mowing/riding the tractor with grandpa. Here is the completed project.

In addition to the art piece he had to submit a written description:

My papa is special. He is nice. He lets me go fishing. His name is Christopher. my name is Christopher too. I want to be like him. I want to fish like him.

My grandpa is special. I like to work with grandpa. He is kind to others. He taught me to hammer and I tore down a wall with him. His name is Larry and my middle name is Larry. I want to be like him. I want to build like him.

Dad and Larry - y'all have a little boy who loves and admires you. Thanks for being an awesome papa and grandpa.

Vader and the Pink Jedi

This last Saturday we had a busy and fun day. We went down to Lehi to see Chris and Annie's families. Stopped by Lowes to get paint and supplies to start refinishing our furniture we have accumulated over the past little bit. I sanded and painted a night stand our neighbor gave us. Pictures will be posted soon :)
Tyler helped Topher make a costume for a cousin's Star Wars themed birthday party.
Topher was Darth Vader. (Not a bad costume considering it was a 30 minute put together out of a diaper box, construction paper, and tin foil!)
Maddie was a "pink" Jedi (we had to make up a character so she could have on pink)
We came home and got kids in bed and Tyler and I watched MI3.
I like busy days.

Little Things

I kept waiting to have something to post, but I've realized that my life is pretty much the same thing every day.
Tyler is up at 5:45am (when I married him I didn't think that would ever happen), I lay in bed until 6:15ish and get up either on my own or because a little boy asks for a movie to be put on. Get myself ready and wait for a baby to holler for food. Feed that one and get the little boy something to eat and wait for my two-year-old to get up (the longer she sleeps the happier we all are during the rest of the day).
After breakfast and a morning movie the kids ride their bikes/scooters around the back while I feed Caroline and put her down for a nap (9ish - 11ish).
When Caroline wakes up we usually have to go get diapers or formula or some other necessity from Target or Wal Mart. We get back just in time for lunch and to send Topher off to school. My neighbor takes him with her daughter.
Maddie Mae takes her nap (12ish to 2:30ish) and Caroline usually pulls things out of cupboards, off shelves, or unfolds laundry. Around 3:15 we walk up to school to get big brother and his friend. We come home - ride bikes, eat dinner, take baths, read a book, and go to bed.
Not much changes from day to day.
But I realized that even though nothing big happens - lots of little things do. Some fun, like Topher finally riding his scooter fast, some sad, like Caroline has a nasty cold, some maddening, like Topher having an accident all over the bathroom floor and doesn't tell me until I find a mess in the bathroom, or some amusing, like Maddie Mae putting on my make up while I am making the grocery list.
So while sometimes I think life is a little boring because it is so the same (cook, clean, feed, repeat) it really isn't. I need to enjoy all the little changes and differences in my day. All of these little happenings, unfortunately won't last forever.
